Restoration Covenant Church

Restoration Covenant Church is completing a Greater Apple Valley, Minnesota Community Needs Assessment. By working with the Center for Community Impact Research we want to more fully understand the specific needs of the people in and around Apple Valley as we prayerfully prepare to serve the community. By collecting, compiling and reporting the data, Restoration Covenant Church will strive to facilitate and foster healthy community in Apple Valley through strategic and purposeful service.

About Apple Valley, MN

Apple Valley is home to the Minnesota Zoo, a nationally-famous zoological garden which houses hundreds of animals from several distinct climatological zones. In 2008, Money Magazine named Apple Valley the 24th best place to live. Incorporated in 1969, the city leaders planned a central business district made up of the four city quadrants. In 2008, Apple Valley boasted over 50,000 residents, up from 45,000 in 2000. Apple Valley is mainly served by Independent School District 196, and has 12 schools (6 elementary, 3 middle and 3 high schools). Over the past 9 years, Apple Valley as become more ethnically and economically diverse. Ethnic diversity has increased 70% between 2000 to 2009. Economically, income earnings have become more diverse with 29.4% of the population earning less than $75,000 per household and 52.6% of the population earning between $75,000-150,000 for household incomes (2009 US Census Bureau).

What is Needs Assessment?

Community Needs Assessment is a organized investigation into the needs and priorities of the community through a serious of interviews and surveys. The approach advocated by CCIR is a team based approach that combines the best of participatory and qualitative research leading to a planned action response.
